SERVICE APPEALS.

(To the Editor.) Sir,—lf some of the “Old Diggers” could read the reports of some appeals against military service they would surely turn in their graves. No wonder the Home Guard is very slow in filling up. Surely it is time the Government took a stand and compelled each fit man to do his duty when his turn came. This would not only remove a lot of the present dissatisfaction, hut also put a stop to the remarks that one can hear around our city streets any day. If Britain falls we fall also. Therefore, if some of the appellants still wish to enjoy the privileges and freedom of this country why not assist to retain same instead of having others to fight for them.—l am, etc., “JUST A DIGGER.”
