PAHIATUA.

Mrs R. Galbally. of Alangatainoka. has as her guest Mrs J. Bryant. of Auckland. The Pahiatua Fire Brigade was summoned at 12.40 p.m. yesterday to extinguish a rubbish fire at the Methodir\ Parsonage. Fanned by a fairly stiff breeze the flames spread to a nearby board fence which was slightly damaged before the flames were brought under control. Pahiatua has been expcriencinug an exceptionally hot spell of weather, which is thought to have been the hottest in thirty years. There has been no rain since Christmas Day and temperatures have been reported in the town during the past fortnight from 80 to 91 degrees Fahrenheit.
