LOCAL BODY DRIVERS.
Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, Nov. 19. “[ am satisfied that if the employers had dropped the application for shift work we could have had a settlement.. declared Mr F. C. Allerbv in the Arbitration Court, appearing in support of the application for a new award covering drivers employed by local bodies throno-hout the Dominion, with the exception of the four main centres' and Petonc. . , . Shift work was entirely a new departure in this award and the union could not accept proposals in this direction Mr T. O. Bishop (for the local bodies) 'said they wove able to work their labourers on shift and it was neecssarv that they have the right to work drivers working with them on shift also.
