BAINESSE SCHOOL.
The annual Calf Club day was hold at Bainesso School on Thursday. The judge was Mr A. Montgomery, of Awahuri, who was accornpanied by Mr I. Mudford, of Poston, a member of (he Wanganui Board and Mr W. J. Crouchor (supervisor of cho j\o. 2 group). There were also present Mrs C'roucher and Miss Benny, of Sanson, and Mr E. 11. Lange, the Wanganui Board’s agriculture instructor. Mr M. Williamson represented Messrs Ilodder and Tolley, Ltd. A miniature show ring had boon built by the committee and it was well surrounded by visitors from Bainesso and Rangiotu. In the class rooms a very comprehensive display of handcraft and sewing which aroused much favourable comment was on view. Afternoon tea was provided and served by tho ludics of the district assisted by tho teachers. Mr Mudford, in returning thanks, congratulated the school on the interest shown in the Calf Club movement, and also on tho excellence of the handwork displayed. Mr U. Buchanan replied on oelialf of tho school. Twelve calves were entered and the following is the prize list:—Dairy type: Jack Baker’s Ncathead 1, Joyce Tennant's Rosinu 2, Maureen Ryan’s Peach 3, Eileen Ryan’s Littlo Audrey v.h.0., Owen Ryan’s Eunice h.c Care in rearing: Senior, Jack Baker’s Ncathead 1, Gordon Scott’s Dinah 2, Joyce Tennant’s Rosina 3. Olwcn Buchanan's Dandy v.li.c., Ngairc Scott's Susie h.c.; junior. Owen Ilyan’s Eunice 1. Peter Scott's Buttercup 2, Joseph Ilealcy’s Glory 3, Gilbert Healey’s Jean v.li.c. Yearling heifor: dairy type, Joseph Healey’s Silver 1. Two-year-old heifer: Dairy type, Gordon Scott’s Sally 1. Jack Baker was the winner of the Marsdon Silver Cup and Owen Ryan runner-up.
