LOYAL RESOLUTION.
PRESBYTERIAN ASSEMBLY. A loval resolution was passed at the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church in Palmerston Nortf on Friday, and a resolution was also carried in tribute’ to the late Rt. Hon Neville Chamberlain, formerly Prime Minister of Britain. The loyal resolution was as follows: "‘That the General Assembly of . the Presbyterian Church reaffirms its loyal allegiance to the Throne and person of His Alajesty King George VI and prays that our gracious King and Queen and the members of the Royal Family may he preserved from all the perils of war, also that our brethren of tlic Homeland who are passing through the horrors of bombardment, may be enabled to endure their many trials, and that, by the blessing of Almighty God, victory for the cause of truth, freedom and humanity may be achieved, as the precursor of a lasting and secure peace.” The passing of the' resolution was followed by the singing of the National Anthem. The resolution in reference to Air Chamberlain was ~as l’ollowp : —“That the- General Assembly acknowledges the services rendered to the cause of peace by the late Rt. Hon. Neville Chamberlain and pay’s tribute to the sincerity and courage shown by the deceased statesman and former Prime Minister, in times of grave difficulty, to the ends which he had in view.’ Those present then stood in silence as a mark of respect. - Both resolutions were moved by Dr. E N Merrington (Dunedin) and seconded by Dr. J. Dickie (Dunedin).
