EMPIRE TURNS CORNER.
LORD GALAVAY’S CONFIDENCE. Per Press Association. ROTORUA, Nov. 18. The Governor-General and Lady Galway during the week-end paid a farewell visit to the Rotorua district, where His Excellency aiso participated In the final function of the Centennial programme when lie officially opened the new carved meeting house at AVhakarewarewa. Their Excellencies, on arrival, were presented with a loyal address by the Mayor (Mr T. Jackson), together with a carved Maori casket inlaid with paua shell. In reply, Lord Galway expressed confidence that the Empire had now turned itlie corner and that victory would crown its efforts. His Excellency said New Zealand had been particularly fortunate in the appointment of Sir Cyril Newall as his successor, for Sir Cyril would be able to give first-hand advice to the AA 7 ar Council.
