APPEAL TO AMERICA
CAROL'S PREDICAMENT

Ex-King Carol of Rumania has appealed to the United States to intercede on behalf of himself and members of his party, who are detained at Seville. The United States Legation at Lisbon has transmitted the request to Jean Pangal, Carol's Chamberlain, who described the appeal as a rrtove to place Carol under President Roosevelt's protection in order that he may proceed to Portugal, where he has been offered asylum.
