ADDINGTON. Per Press Association. CHRISTCHURCH, Oct. 2. > Entries generally were smaller-ft-t to-day S Addington market and values in most sections were fropi par tp slightly dearer. A small penning ot spring lauibs spiu at about Is a Id. Store sheep recovered the easing of last week. Ewe hoggets made to 32s for best, and to 26s for medium. Ewes and lambs, all counted, sold at 1/s for the best and to 14s for medium. Fat sheep.—There was a small entry ot 3200, and an improvement in prices of 2s a head for the best, and also lor pnme shorn sheep, the sale concluding very fivnily. Shorn sheep sold relatively better thau sheep in the wool. Best wethers made to 545, good heavy 47s to 60s, prime medium 43s to 465, and light down to 335. Show ewes sold at 63s 7d, prime heavy at 42s to 465, and others down to 255. Fat cattle.—There was a small entry ot 350 head, including lilies from the West Coast and Otago. There was a strong showing of good quality. Good steers scarcely held the rates of the preceding sale, but much of them made from 53e to 565, and tops to 57s per 1001 b. Best steers sold at from £2O to £25 17s 6d, good £l7 to £l9 10a, and light down to £ll. There was an improved demand of 10s a head for prime eows and the best of these sold at from £l4 to £lB 10s for a. few special. Only very ordinary cows failed t° make double figures. Fat pigs.—The entry was the largest of the season and both porkers and baconeis slipped, plain heavy baconers by up to 10s a head. Porker prices averaged from 7d to B*d a lb, and baconer from 6|d to 7|d. AVESTFIELD SALE. Per Press Association. AUCKLAND, Oct. 2. At Westfield a full average entry of beef sold at late rates. Extra choice ox beet 38s a 1001 b, choice and prime 34s to 375, secondary and .plain 31s to 335, ox. a prime cow and heifer 30s to 345; extra heavy prime stoers £ls to £l6, heavy £l4 to £l4 17s 6d, medium £l2 10s to £l3 16s, light £ll to £l2, extra heavy prime cows and heifers £lO to £l2 ss, heavy £3 10s to £9 15s, medium £7 7s 6d to £8 7s 6d. A short porker l offering solely very dearly baconers also improving. Choppers £3 ss' to £4 17s, heavy baconers £4 9s to £4 15s, medium £4 Is to £4 7s, light £3 17s to £4 heavy porkers £3 15s to £4 Is. medium £3 10s to £3 12s, light and small £2 12s to £3 ss, stores £2 7s to £2 12s, slips £1 15s to £2 4s, veaners £1 4s to £i 14s. A smaller mutton yarding sold freely. Extra heavy prime wethers, shorn 34s to 36s 3d, heavy woolly 38s to 40s, shorn 31s to 32s' 6d, medium 35s to 375, 28s to 30s, light 32s to 33s 6d, 26s to 275: extra heavy prime ewes, woolly 31s to 33s 6d, shorn 26s 9d to 28s, heavy 27a 6d to 295, 23s to 255, medium 25s to 26s 6d, 20s to 225. Larger numbers of lambs held late rates, selling at 25a to 37s 3d. STORTEQRD lodge rates. HASTINGS, Oct. 2. Easier values for beef cattle ruled at the Stortford Lodge sale to-day, prices dropping by 10s to 20s a head. The market was topped by a heavy pen of splendidlyfinished red polled bullocks, which sold to £l6 12s fid. Good oxen averaged about 34s a 1001 b. The females were well below standard; better sorts made from 27s to 28s a lOQlb. The heifers penned were negligible. There was also a slightly easier tendency for store cattle, but many of the offering of 1000 head were out of condition. A draft of empty cows in forward condition made the high figure of £7 3s. Good three-year steers brought £9 Is to £9 2s 6d, medium £8 10s, small and

light £7 ss, goou two-year A.A. slcors £b 18s, medium grown and light £5 15s to £6, yearling A.A. steers £4 18s, small and very light £3 6d to £3 10a, twoyear A.A. heifers, in medium order, £5 7s, high-country yearling heifers £3. Wether hoggets were 2s cheaper, the main entry being sold at ,255. Good medium sorts brought 23s 3d. Eat and forward wethers, including killflblo sheep, were passed at 28s. Aged ewes with lambs brought 16s, all counted.

PAHIATUA PRICES. PAHIATUA, Oct. 2. A good yarding of dairy stock met with a keen demand at the Pafiiatua stock sate, and a small yarding of 6hecp and a large entry of pigs were offered to a large attendance of buyers. Quotations: —Cattle: Springing dairy cows, close to profit, £l4 10s to £l2; backward sorts, £.lO 10s io £9; late calvers, £8 to £7: empty sound cows, £6 12s fid to £4 10s; Jersey heifers, close to profit, £lO 15s to £9 10s; later ca.lvers, £9 to £6 10s; empty \heifers, £4 7s fid to £3 15s. Pigs; Weaners, good, 30s to 225; stores, £2 to 355.
