R.A.F. OVER EUROPE
BIG BOMBER FORCE,
(British Official Wireless.) RUGBY, Sept. 30. A comprehensive view of the R.A.F. operations against the enemy on the night of Sunday-Monday may be obtained from the official communique. After extensive operations in which it is obvious a very considerable bomber force had been employed, it is stated that three British aircraft are missing.
The communique says: “Last night our aircraft continued to strike at the enemy’s oil refineries, aircraft and munition factories, rail communications, and aerodromes, as well as the Channel ports. The oil refineries at Magdeburg and Hanover, the aluminium works at Bitterfeld, the gasworks at Stuttgart, and the goods yards at Osnabruck and Cologne were among the targets attacked in Germany.” A Berlin message says an opportunity is being given parents to send to the country children whose health might be impaired by the R.A.F. raids. Well-to-do parents mu6t pay the expenses of evacuation, which is voluntary, Welfare organisations are meeting the cost of temporary. homes lor poor children, RAIDS ON LONDON. After the four daylight raids on London, bombers early to-night cautiously circled the outskirts. Only one of the early ones dared -to penetrate the central defences and dropped incendiary bombs. The majority of the raiders approached by the familiar north-west route. In Dublin it is officially announced that a. British plane made a forced landing near Ennis. The pilot, who was not injured, was interned.
