BASEBALL LEAGUE.

At the annual meeting of the Manawatu Baseball League Dir C. Stagpoole presided. In his report the president stated that the past season, which was the inaugural One of the league, had been most successful. A Manawatu.representative team had participated in the interprovincial Be at tib Cup competition held at Wellington. The team, although beaten in the first round, bad played remarkably well. Four chibs had participated in the league’s competition, and this year there was a possibility of that number being greatly increased. In moving the adoption of the report, Mr Stagpoole stated that there would be at least 200 players affiliated with the league this season, and of that number at least' 100 would be women. The women’s section had formed a league of its own and its games, this season, would be controlled by an executive elected by the women. The election of officers resulted :—Patron, Mr W. Cook; president, Mr Stagpoole; vice-presidents. Messrs T. Francis, J. S. Smith. J. O. Boniface; sec-i retary, Mr N. Sinclair ; treasurer, Mr G. Edmonds; hon. auditor, Mr W. Bir.nie, jiuir.; statistician, Mr G. Vining. Mr W. C. Goldicutt, donated a enp for the team with the lowest aggregate of runs scored against it during the season. A cup was also donated to the* women’s league for the, champion club of the season.
