Knox (Secretary for the Navy) has announced the spending of 230,000,000 dollars immediately in preparing the prospective air and naval base sites. “The deal does not bring us closer to war,” ho said. “AVe were not :n favour with Germany long before this, and Hitler could have found many reasons to declare war against the United States long since if lie had been seeking an excuse.”
