ADDINGTON SALE. I'AT CATTLE EASIER. Per Press Association. CHRISTCHURCH, Sept. 4. Fat cattle were easier at Addington today, when a fairly big yarding was offered. Quality was mixed, but there was a fan proportion of good beef. Values were £1 to 25s below those of last week. Good beef made 47s 6d 100 pounds, best up to 555, best steers £l4 5s to £27 2s 6d, others to £l4, best heifers £l2 to £l9 7s 6d, others from £7 10s, best cows to £l6 12s 6a, others from £6. There was a larger yarding of store sheep, tho bulk of which were ewes in lamb. Tho sale was steady for all classes, though prices were slightly lower than last week. The fat sheep entry was small, but values, after a spectacular rise early, settled down to about par. Passings were heavy among tho heaviest southern sheep. Medium to prime wethers mado 41s to 52s 6d, others from 325, medium to pnmo ewes 31s 6d to 52s 6d, others from 21s. Tho fat pig entry was light. Porkers at tho best rates of the season averaged 8d to 9d, baconors averaging 6jd to Bd. STORTFORD LODGE. HASTINGS, Sept. 4. The fat cattle yarding at Stortford Lodge was notable for its quality, and tho market was on a par with that of a fortnight ago. The finest bullocks penned this year brought £lB 2s 6d, slightly smaller-framed sort.s to £l6 17s 6d, good medium-weight bullocks £l3 7s 6d to £l4 12s 6d, and light, pens £lO 7s 6d to £ll 15s. T'he best heifers mado £lO 7s 6d to £ll 2s 6d; small and light, £5 7s 6d to £6 17s 6d, wellwintered three-year steers, £8 19s; medium two-year, £6 ss. Six-toot.h to five-year owes, with lambs, mado 19s 6d; wether hoggets, 27s 2d; other good pens 25s 6d to 25s Id. Good ewe hoggets, 30s 8d; four-tooth wethers, 28s lOd. PAHIATUA VALUES. . Prices at this week’s Pahiatua sale were: —Fat wether hoggets (extra good), 30s, 27s to 265; fat wethers, 35s to 32s 6d; wether hoggets, 23s 3d, 225, 21s 3d to 20s 9d; ewe hoggets, 3<te. Dairy cows close to profit (good), £l4 to £11; poorer sorts, £9 5s to £7 10s; heifers, medium 6ort.s, £lO 15s to £8 15s; 2-ycar P.A., £3 15s. Pigs: Stores, £2 9s, £2 5s to 345; wcaners, 255, 24s 6d, 245, 22s 6d to 18s. BULLS SALE. Dalgct.y and Co., Ltd., report having held a highly successful sale at Bulls on Monday, when a good yarding of sheep, enttle and pigs were submitted to a good attendance of the public. Some excellent quality wether hoggets were offered in the sheep section, these selling at from 25s Id to 265. Fat sheep were penned in larger numbers than usual and values were easier. Nevertheless, vendors met tho market and ,we report a total clearance. A good deal of interest was taken in the fat cattle section, realisations showing an improvement on tho previous sale. A good entry of dairy cows and heifers sold under remarkably good competition, and values for all good quality sorts showed a further rise on recent sales, tho best of tho cows and heifers soiling up to £l4 10s. A pen, of wearier Jersey heifers also commanded keen competition, these selling at £5 Is. A good yarding of pigs met with an exceptionally keen sale and late rates were fully maintained. AUCKLAND, Sept. 4. -Competition for a heavy beef entry was dull at Westfield stock sales. Extra heavy prime steers, £ls to £ls 15s; heavy, £l4 to £l4 15s; medium, £l2 10s to £l3 TOs; extra heavy prime cows and heifers, £lO to £l2 10s; heavy, £8 5s to £9; medium, £6 10s to £7 10s. Sheep.—-Extra heavy primo wethers, 40s to 42s 9d; heavy, 36s 6d to 38s 6d; medium, 33s to 355; extra heavy primo ewes, 30s to 33s 6d; heavy, 27s 6d to 295; medium, 23s 6d to 25s 6d.
