PAHIATUA
The death occurred on Sunday of Mrs Martha Jane Olliyer, wife of Mr G. A. Ollivcr, cf Maslefton," at the age of 75 years. Mrs Ollivcr had Hived in tho Wairarapa district for the past 57 years. She was born in Dublin,; Ireland, and came to New Zealand at the ago of 18 years. For tho next few .years she lived in Pahiatua, and then wont, to Mastortcn to settle for tho rest of her life. . Sho' is survived by her husband and two sons, Messrs G. Ollivcr (Hutt) and E. J. Ollivcr (Papawai), and two daughters, Mrs A. J. Russell and Miss E. Ollivcr, both of Masterton.
Members of tho Red Star (Mastcrton) Badminton Club journeyed to PaJiiatua at tho week-end for a return match with tho Pahiatua Club. The annual report of the activities of the Pahiatua Boy Scout Group states that at tho end of July there were 30 Cubs and three Scouters in the Cub pack uild tho Scout troop numbered 38 Scouts and two Scouters, which made a grand total of 73, compared with last year’s total of 72. During the year eight boys had joined the pack and six Cubs had gone up into tho Scouts. A largo number of Scouts and Cubs had gained badges. The main camp of the yeur was hold nt Kotiini when 42 Scouts and Scouters attended. The Eketahuna and Woodville troops each sent, a patrol of seven boys. Only one week-end was held during the camping season At the Matiawalu Scout district rally the Cub pack gained two first places and won tho district inter-pack chariot race. The Scout troop gained third place out of 14 troops in the Alunro Shield competition for general Scout work. Since the outbreak of the war many patriotic duties have been performed by both Scouts and Cubs.
