GERMAN COMMUNIQUE.
EXAGGERATED CLAIMS. Received August 27, 1.5' p.m. BERLIN, Aug. 26. A communique states: Fifteen hundred bomba were dropped on Britain last night. German bombers yesterday successfully attacked the aerodrome at WarmweJl'(north-west of Portland). A violent air battle ensued. German planes sank a 4000-ton merchantman 223 miles west of Land’s End. Numerous planes last night flew over Birmingham, Kingston and Coventry where they bombed aircraft factories and armament works. Violent explosions and fires were observed. “British planes indiscriminately bombed non-military objectives in Germany. A raider was shot down after attacking Berlin. The enemy yesterday last 72 planes and 14 of ours are missing. A submarine sank 46,170 tons of cnemv merchant shipping on her latest trip. This submarine altogether has sunk 88,856 tons. Another submarine has sunk four merchantmen of a total tonnage of approximately 10,000.
