MORE LOCAL SUCCESSES. Palmerston North and district competitors in the Wellington Competitions Society’s festival continue to score successes, among the latest being: Dorothy Mclvegg (Palmerston North), first with 81 points in reading at sight, girls, 7-12 years (35 entries) ; J£arle Andrews (Palmerston North), first with 82 points in vocal impersonation of film star, boy 'or girl, under 16 years (14 entries), and v.h.c. in song in costume, boy or girl, 12-16 years, own selection (16 entries); Betty Murphy (Palmerston North) second with 77 points in recitation, girls, 14-16 years (8 entries) ; Miss Joan Bovis (Shannon), second with 87 points in vocal solo, lieder, women (16 entries), and v.h.c. in the Irish folk song, women, own selection, in which Miss Millicent Penketh (Palmerston North) was one of the two singers recalled (15 entries); Amos McKegg. li.c. in recitation in character, not humorous, boys, 12-16 years, own selection (9 entries).
