AWAPUNI TRACK WORK.. BOXIDEN IMPROVING. (By “Spectator.”) Racing will be resumed locally with the Wanganui meeting in two weeks’ time, and with this in view a number of horses are being prepared at Avvapuni. The course proper was open this morning, and although it was' last not much ot an attractive nature wan recorded in gallops, a strong wind no doubt contributing towards this. Celcwayo and Kotua arc again back to fast work, and galloped five lurlonge in 1.9. The former disappointed in his final two-year-old racing last season, hut showed good lorm earlier. Alerrymecr and Colerica were companions over three furlongs, which were covered in 42tec. A similar time was recorded by Royal Elect, Princcfcs Minerva and Lord Plato, the two first-named finishing ahead of the other. Boniden and Colonel Bogey galloped over eix furlongs, the last lour taking 56 sec. The former is improving and will race at the Wanganui meeting. Greek Step, Golden Moon and Sandy Bay were companions over three furlongs, which were covered in 41sec. , Tigrelerre and Erancis Drake completed the last four of five furlongs in 56sec. The former is dub to appear at the EgmontWanganui Hunt meeting and baa recently been jumping well. Coiibri and Social Credit were sent over five furlongs in 1.8 and Lord Quex took 1.22 for six furlongs. Brazil was also galloped over six furlongs. Clarion Call has returned from Riccarton, and is in good order. lie lias been entered for flat racing at the Wanganui meeting and was -given jiacework. Old Bill lias been entered lor splint events at the same meeting and is getting through hit, work in good style. . Aurora’s Star has been turned to hurdling and is making good progress in this department, covering several hurdles in a careful manner this morning. Chary is showing in his track work that ho is retaining his pace and his recent efforts point to his being prominent in coining events. . Hunting Lore is back on the tracks and Thrasos is also being exorcised after a spell. Goldburn will resume work in about a week’s time. Clcesform, after a beneficial rest, is being exercised on the roads, and will also reappear on the tracks shortly.
