PAHIATUA.

Mrs W. Wilkinson, of Hataitai, Wellington, and Mrs R. Fraser, of Inglewood, arc the guests of Mrs H. Hutcheson, of Dawson Strcel. Members of the staff of the Mastcrfon trout fry hatcheries and a number of Pahiatua district anglers recently liberated in various rivers and streams of the Makakahi, Mangatainoka and Mangahao districts the annual consignment of approximately 80,000 brown trout f.ry from the Mastcrton hatcheries. The fry were all in excellent condition. Tiro annuai meeting of the Pahiatua Intermediate Rural Credit Association was he'd recently, Mr J. 11. Bremner presiding. The. chairman, in presenting his report, stated that the indications of renewed interest in the activities of the association mentioned in the last animal report had materialised, three new loans having been completed. The year’s profits had declined from £l2 2s 4d to £8 10s sd, but as tho whole of the preliminary expenses had now been written off, the trend for increased business should make for better profits in the future. This year’s profits were paid to the auditor and the secretary by way of honorarium for their services during the past year. The number of shareholders at present was 40, while 1160 shares were current, the report added. There were seven loans in existence at the end of the financial year, hut another new loan had become operative since and it was hoped that increasing interest and publicity would produce further business in the future. In moving the adoption of the report and balance-sheet, Mr Bremner mentioned that the decline in revenue was not the result of last year’s operations, but the slackness of previous years. Kneouiaging comment on the statement of the association’s affairs was made by the actingsupervisor (Mr J. W. Davidson), while Mr S K. Riddells (secretary) remarked on the great difference effected since the admints tration was taken over by tho State Advances Corporation. Mr Bremner was unanimously re-elected director and Mr G. G. Taylor reappointed auditor.
