MANAWATU UNION. PROFIT ON TOURNAMENT. Reporting to the . weekly meeting of the management committee of the Manawatu Rugby Union, last evening, the secretary (Mr G.'A. Brown) said the profit on the quadrangular Moascar Oup tournament on Saturday and Monday amounted to £32. The takings were £l2l on Saturday, and £76 on Monday, making a total of £lO7. The expenses totalled £165 as against £139 the previous year. Those present at the meeting were Messrs A. M. Ongley (chairman), R. Foster, P. Skoglund, F. E. Sherwood, R. Gillespie, J. Eagle, B. Palmer, J. R. Hardie, H. 11. Crawford, K. W. Eglinton and B. Trow. The chairman extended a welcome to Mr Trow, who took his seat for the first time as the representative of the Referees’ Association. The new Referees’ Association was granted affiliation with the union. On Mr Gillespie’s motion it was decided to send a letter to the selector and coach of the Boys’ High School first fifteen (Mr Skoglund) congratulating him on the team’s winning tho Moascar Cup. Letters of appreciation' for their displays are to be sent to tho three other contestants. Appreciation was recorded of the work of the secretary and the president in connection with the Moascar Cup tournament. It was reported that a match had been arranged for the third A team against a Dannevirkc team at Dannevirke on August; 31. It was decided that the Hankins Shield be presented to the winner of the senior championship final on Saturday. In the event of a draw the two teams will be.declared joint holders of the shield. Fixtures for Saturday are:—’ Senior final.—Old Boys v. United, oval, Showgrounds,'3 p.m. . • Juniors.—Old Boys v. iFeikling Old Boys, No.: 2 Showgrounds, 3 p.m.;-University'v. Halcombe, No. 1 Johnston Park, Feiiding, 3 p.m.; Air Force v. St. Patrick’s, No. 3 Showgrounds, 3 p.m.;’Kia-Tea v. United, oval, Showgrounds, 1.30 p.m.; Bunnythorpo a bye. Thirds B. —Representative gamo with Bush, at AVoodville, 2.30 p.m.
