FOXTON

Mrs E. Morgan, of Pahiatua, is visiting her parents, Mr and Mrs 11. E. Whiteman, of No. 2 Line, Foxton. Information lias been roeeived by the Foxton Dental Clinic Committee from the Department of Health that. Nurse M. K. Gardner has been appointed to the position of temporary assistant at the school dental clinic for a period of approximately three months. Mr 11. J. Hartley, of Foxton Beach, is now making satisfactory progress towards recovery from a recent indisposition. Further damage was done at the Centennial Memorial playing area over the weekend, and as a result, the equipment in the area is to be dismantled and stored away until such time as the official opening of the grounds takes place. A match between representatives of the Mangaore and Herrington Golf Clubs was played on the local links during the weekend and resulted in a win for the home team. The results were as follow, Foxton players being mentioned first: —L. C. Bryant beat Thompson, Wishart boat Campbell, Newton beat, Clay I on. Shortt beat Morrow, Hinds beat Murray, Purcell boat Murrow, Small beat Hook, 11. A. Ilannay beat Fraser, Walls boat Inglcton. Scott boat Blackwood, Anderson beat Jamieson. Four-ball: Bryant and Wishart boat Thompson and Campbell, Newton and Shortt beat Clayton and Murrow, Hinds and Purcell boat Murray and Murrow, Small and Ilannay, beat Hook and Fraser, Walls and Scott beat Blackwood and Jamieson. A patriotic foursome was also held, when the winners were Mrs W. H. Smith and Miss M. Spoil’s, to whom miniature trophies were presented. The results of a stroke competition played by the Herrington Ladies’ Golf Club are:—Mrs Ilannay 1, Mrs Bergin 2, Mrs Crawford 3.

A happy time was spent by a number of young people when they gathered at a party held at the residence of Mr and 'Mrs W. J. Bowden, Cook Street. The music for the dancing was supplied by Mrs Bowden and Mr N. Neilsen, of Palmerston North.
