COST TO KAIRANGA.

COUNCIL’S EMPLOYEES. The 5 per cent, increase in wages would affect the 'vairanga County Council to the extent of £598 a year, said the chairman (Mr W. It. Hopcroft) at the meeting of the council yesterday. He detailed the increase as follow: 27 No. 13 Scheme men, 4s 8d a week each, a total of £6 6s a week; nine permanent men, 4s 8d a week each, a total of £2 2s; eight drivers, 5s 3d a week each, a total of £2 2s; The grand total would be £ll 10s a week. Of the yearly increase, £348 would be taken up by No. 13 scheme men. Mr Hopcroft said that the amount was not provided for in the council’s estimates.
