GENERAL NEWS.
HOCKEY. The Huia Hockey Club’s team for to-morrow is; A. Packer, 11. Coupe, G. Cook, C. Cherry, N. Kaven, C. Dalzell, R. Peterson. R. Eade, T. Harrington, G. Rosoman. Knitting From the Fleece. At the Community Centre, an address and demonstration on how to knit direct from the wool fleece was given b.y Miss Barrett, of lviwitea, to members of the District Patriotic Society. It is hoped to form classes lor the work at a later date. Bequest to Church. By the will of tho late Mr Joseph Heappy, of Halcombe, St. James’S Church, Halcombe, receives a gift of £IOO. This money is to be expended on the maintenance and upkeep of the church. Mr Heappy was a worshipper at the church from tho time it was opened nearly 60 years ago until he passed away. Mothers’ Club. At a meeting of the Plunket Society’s Mothers’ Club Mcsdames Evans, L. Blackbourne, and I. Goldfinch wore appointed as hostesses for the next bridge afternoon. Messages of appreciation were received from the general committee in connection with the efforts of members towards the success of the table-setting competition. The prize money was won by Mesdamcs Bowles, Russell and Clover, and they indicated that they proposed to buy something useful for the club. It was decided that for the next meeting each members knit two squares suitable l'or a child’s cot quilt.
