Mr and Mrs P. Penny are Palmerston North visitors to Wanganui. Mrs H. M. Sivinburn, of Fitzherbert Avenue, is a visitor to Rotorua. Miss R. Gillies, of Massey Street, has returned home after visiting Auck- 1 land. \ Mrs G. H. Clifton, of Takapuna, is the guest of Mrs R. Porter, of Palmerston North. Mrs J. Y. Douglas, of Masterton, is the guest of Mrs W. Broivn, Napier Road. Mrs F. AV. Coombs, of Russell Street, is the guest of her sister. Mrs S. Colegrove, of Auckland. Mrs J. Macky, of Auckland, is staying with her mother, Mrs E. Guy, of Fitzherbert Avenue, j Mrs AV. H. de Luen, of Featherston Street, who has been staying with Mrs S. Morrow, of Auckland, will return ; home on Saturday, j Mrs W. J. Croucher, a member of ! tlie Palmerston North branch of the j W.D.F.U., who is ill, was accorded a vote 'of sympathy at the monthly meet- | ing of tlie branch yesterday. Sympathy with the relatives of the late Miss E. Cheetham was expressed at yesterday’s meeting of the AV.D.F.U. Miss Cheetham was r. member of the Palmerston North branch for many years. The death occurred yesterday morning of Mrs Mary Gillespie, of Masterton. Mrs Gillespie, who was 95 years of age, was born in Birkenhead, Eng-1 land, came to New Zealand 66 years ago, and had lived in Masterton ever since. She was one of the town’s oldest residents. Mrs Gillespie will be specially remembered for her many years’ service to the Methodist Church. A tribute to the work carried out by the late Mrs AVm. Ritchie for the . New Zealand Alliance was paid by Mr H. Grinstead at the centennial dinner of the Palmerston North branch of the Alliance. Mrs Ritchie, said _Mr Grinstead, was one of those who quietly hut earnestly supplied the Alliance with valuable information from time to time. He expressed sympathy with Air Ritchie in his great loss.
