The friends of Mies Thynne, of Foxton Beach, who is an inmate of the Palmerston North Hospital, will he pleased to learn that she is making satisfactory progress. The death occurred in the Palmorston North Hospital yesterday of Mr Walter John. Hartley, son of Mr and the late Mrs 11. J. Hartley, of Foxton Beach.- All* Routlicn, of Hokitika, is visiting her sister, Mrs Dudson, of Coley Street. SergeantMajor A. C. Baker, of Burnham, is visiting his mother, Aim AI. Baker, of Beach Road. Mrs IT. T. Gilling has to Hamilton after spending a holiday in Foxton as the guest of Aire E. Francis, of Ravensworth Place. Aliss Joan Robinson, of Robinson Street, who has been an inmate of the Palmerston North Hospital, has returned home. W. E. Pine, of Afaxwell’s Line, Awapuni, the well-known racehorse trainer, hai shifted to Foxton, where he will in future reside. At the annual meeting of the Presbyterian Indict,’ Social Guild Rev. K. F. Bush presided. The president, Mrs P. Murray, presented the annual report, which stated, inter alia; “We regret to record the death of one of our. members, Aire W. E. Woodhain, and, during the year, resignations from Airs W. R. AlcKenzie and Miss Swanson were accepted with regret. We were pleased to welcome Alcsdamcs J. Coley and E. Corlett as new members. Financially, the guild is in a sound position and the extension fund continues to increase. A donation of £5 from the guild funds was made to the Government for war purposes. Socially and financially the year has been a most satisfactory one, and a spirit of enthusiasm has prevailed through-out. The membership now stands a.t 31. as compared with 30 at the close of last year. We trust that the fortheomi' year will be as successful and enjoyalno as the one just closed.” Tho report was received. Hornblow, and Aliss Ross; ice-cream find sweets. Airs J. Newton and the Bible Glass girls; Busv 800, Afiss Doull and . Busy Bee Club;” novelty, Mrs H. Satherloy and Airs J. Satherley. The ladies of Oroua Downs are to he asked to conduct the afternoon tea arrangements. Mr J. i Symon and Mr D. R. Barron were eicctcd to look after the competitions. Alosdames Alurray and E. F. Bush were appointed hostesses. Arrangements were made for the guild to visit the Shannon Guild. At Rugby football on Saturday Foxton juniors beat Athletic juniors by 8 points to 6. The referee was Air J. A. Zuppicich. In the third grade ' game, Foxton beat Athletic B—6.8 —6. Mr K. Burr carried the whistle. The results of a Stablefor.d competition played by the Herrington Ladies’ Golf Club are:—Airs Hannay 1. Mrs R. Robinson 2, Mrs M. B. Bergin 3.
