CO-OPERATION WITH EUROPE
NON-INVOLVEMENT IN WAR. LINDBERGH’S OPINIONS. Received August 5, 12.8 p.m. CHICAGO, Aug. 4. Colonel Lindbergh, addressing the peace rally of 50,DU0 persons, asserted that foreign and domestic interests Avere endeavouring to draw the United States into the European Avar. He urged the UlAited States “to rearm fully for defence,” also to take the leadership ill efforts for peace. “Let us offer Europe a plan for the progress and protection of Western Civilisation, of Avhicli they and avc each form a part,” he said. Colonel Lindbergh asserted that United States opinion was now definitely overwhelmingly against involvement in the Avar, and said the time had arrived Avlien the United States should consider its relationship with post-war Europe. He. advocated noninterference in European internal affairs, but expressed the opinion that- it was of the utmost importance that the Uni fed States should co-operate Avith Europe, He said a war between the two hemispheres could easily last for generations and bring all civilisation tumbling down. “I have a different outlook towards Europe than most people in America,” Colonel Lindbergh said. “I am told I mustn’t stand too strongly against the trend of the times, and that, to be effective, what one says must meet Avith general approval. I prefer to say what I believe or not speak at all. I don’t offer my opinion as an expert, but rather as a citizen AA-ho is alarmed at the position our country has reached in this era of experts.”
