THREE-YEAR-OLD LILLIES.

SLEEVELESS AND CLASSFORM. RECORDS FOR SEASON. (By “Spectator.”) Two three-year-old fillies from' Awapuni who have made a name tor themselves in the past season, Sleeveless and Classform, were handicapped tor the Winter Cup. Sleeveless was favoured with the better chance by the liandicapper. and was given 9.10, and Classform received 9.1. The distance Will be more to the liking of Sleevelet's. who .is regarded as having a good chance in the race, while Classform is now on the .easy list at Awapuni, and will not accept. Both fillies have had plenty of racing and have compiled good records. In 27 starts in the season Classform has had five wins, eight seconds and_ three thirds. Sleeveless has started 25 times for six wins (four on end at the beginning of the season), five seconds and two thirds. Trainer’s License. A. W. McDonald, of Awapuni, has been granted a trainer’s license for the 1940-41 season. Deflation Fails. Extra weight and the eiippery going combined to make Deflation's task at Marton too much for him. Seyfried Disappoints. Seyfried won with great case in the bracelet race at Woodville, but in his subsequent starts was not impressive, and lias failed to get into the money. Conversion’s Chance. •Two recent good performances, at_ Awapuni and Marton, indicate that a winning turn for Conversion should not be far away. He is very well at present. Blue Steel's Performance. Blue Steel should win a minor steeplechase I when more seasoned. He ran a good race a.t Marton recently. His stableinatc Hirangi, with whom ho was bracketed, ran very badly, finishing last, half a mile away. Leading Sires. Padishah had little chance with I'lashlight in the Homebv Steeplechase on Saturday. Flashlight received 2st 101 b from Padishah, but will have an advantage oi 2st 61b in the Grand National Steeplechase. Padishah showed few effects after the race, and his owner was very pleased with his effort. Present intentions are to give him a few schoolings over the main country this week. Dauber broke down two fences fiom the finish of the Homebv Steeplechase, in“ which he finished third. Gold Wren was lame after the race, and Nightbound also broke down, and it appears that none of those three will be able to race at the Grand National meotmg. Slayer will be ridden by T.
