Nicholas Kiiiet had been killed at Brussels and Dr. Charles Walden at Long Island (United Slates). Kinet’s brother Daniel had been killed in an aeroplane accident in June. A large number of dockers and drillers at the Govan Dry Dock had removed the plates from a vessel, making it unusable, and then had struck without warning. They demanded payment, on time rates not piece rates. The Employers’ Federation had announced that a general lock-out would occur on August 13 if the men did not return to. work.
