Tlie death is announced of Sir Temulji Nariman, India’s oldest doctor, aged 93. He is believed to have held the world’s marriage record of 87 years. His wife, whom he married when he was aged six, survives him. The Lord President of the Council Mr Neville Chamberlain) is reported to be progressing satisfactorily after his operation, states the British Official Wireless. No further bulletins will be issued.
“It is with deep regret that I have to announce the retirement of Mr G. H. Stiles, of Palmerston' North, from the hoard of directors on account of illhealth,” states the report of the directors of the Shannon Dairy Company, to be presented at the annual meeting by Mr W. E. Barber, the chairman. “I wish to place on record the appreciation of the shareholders, fellow directors and myself, of his services to this company for 24 years. His cooperation, help, and experience have been of great assistance at board meetings, also his untiring energy in representing the company on outside affairs connected with the industry, and we trust that he will soon be restored to health.”
