HAWERA TEAMS’ VISIT. In the Rugby match between the Feilding Argicultural High School and Hawera District High School teams at Johnston Park yesterday afternoon, the home team suffered defeat by H points to 8. The teams were: — Hawera.—W. Jones, Thomas, Lund, Penniall, B. Jones, Sheehan, Boyce, Bromley, Baker, Bluett, Thurston, Hinga, Findlater (capt.), Hooper, Egglestone. Feilding.—Thompson, Brown, Nairn, Hunt, Aiken, Silcock, Gilliland, Crowdrey, Ford, Heayns, Fountaine, Voss, Swinburn, Evans, Hay (capt). Hawera forced the pace in the first spell and their forwards proved a strong combination, having more than its share of the leather in Feilding’s territory. At half time the visiting team was leading by 8 pts., to 5. At the commencement of the second spell Feilding attacked early and showed promise of checking the aggressive tactics of their opponents, but as the game proceeded the visitors again pushed the home team back and enjoyed the advantage. Feilding evened the scores when Brown got over to touch down but later Hawera scored again and maintained their lead till the final whistle sounded. The struggle was a willing one, and it was unfortunate for Feilding that their captain Hay, was not at his best owing to an injured foot. Mr D. ITart was the referee. The respective scorers were: for Hawera, B. Jones, G. Lund and Boyce, Lund’s try being converted by Penniall. For Feilding, Aiken, and B Jones, Hunt added the extra points in respect of Aiken's try. As stated in the “Manawatu Standard” yesterday, the basketball match, Hawera v Feilding, :csultad in a win for the visitors, the final scores being: Hawera 26 Feilding 19. The teams were:— Hawera.—F. Souness, M. Locker, S. Wills, A. Brown, J. Cox, S. Thompson, P. Cummins, E. Craville, F. Bayliss. Feilding:—A. Watson, M. Davenport, J. Hunter, M. Russell, M. Jewell, M. Ross, M. Chappell, A. Quaylc, C. Edliouse.
