CUSTOMS REVENUE.

WELLINGTON FIGURES. MARKED DECREASE. WELLINGTON, Aug. 1. Nut Customs revenue collected at the port .of Wellington last month returned to a more normal level after the very High totals collected in May and June, tho figure being £239,541 compared with £363,995 in June. Substantial increases are shown under all other heads excepting motor spirit, when compared with July, 1939. For the seven months of the current year revenue totals £2,014,867, compared with £2,090.505 for the corresponding period of 1939, a decrease of £75,638. War tax amounted to £27,339) compared with £52,350 in June, £42,545 in May, and £33,656 in April. Collections ’of sales tax in July amounted to £121,412, compared with £107,821 in July, 1939. The total shows a decrease of £105,130 compared with the same period of 1939. Beer duty collections totalled £9532, compared with £5032 in July 1939. For the seven months the total is £60,56U, an increase of £16,964. The duty collected on motor-spirit last month amounted to £28,973 at 6:1 a gallon, compared with £42.095 at 6d 6d a gallon in July,, 1939, a decrease of £13,122. The total for the*' seven months is £275,730, compared with £318,767 for the corresponding period of 1939.,Collections of tyre tax totalled £1932, compared with £1630 in July, 1939. The total for the seven months amounts to £12,122, a decrease of £5109.
