ASHHURST WEATHER.
The month of July, like the preceding month has produced for the most part open weather and unusually dry conditions, state Mr R. M. Finlay, headmaster of tho Ashhurst School, in his notes on the weather. Tho monthly rainfall aggregated 1.40 in. for 17 days, while for the same period last year there were 8.03 in for 19 clays. The heaviest fall for the month occurred on tho 13th., with .45in. The barometer has shown little fluctuation, except for a steep fall, of six-tenths of an inch between tho 24th and 29th. On the Ist and Bth slight coatings of snow fell on Wliariti and the lower slopes. On six days frost was recorded, and 5 degrees was the greatest reading. During the month there were 21 calm clays, or practically so. Wind blew from the north-west on four days, from the northeast on four days, and from the southeast on two days. The north and _southeasterly weal her was particularly bitter.
