SCOUT NOTES.

TROOP JOTTINGS. (By “Rama.”) 3rd Palmerston North (West End) Troop.—Our meeting opened with flagbreak and inspection which was won by the Seagull Patrol. We have a large number of Scouts at our parade. After iuinspection, corners followed. Each patrol went to its corner and sat for the Scout work of first-aid. We later picked a team for a game of stalking at- the back of the West End School grounds. Tho S.M. and A.S.M. are very pleased to! see each boy is interested in his work. After parade the A and B teams at handball put in a solid practise. 4th PalmersLon North (All Saints’ Troop).—After flag-break, “Rangi” and “Rewa” inspected the troop, the inspection being won by the Morepork Patrol. Following the inspection were two interesting games conducted by the duty patrolleader. As Labour Day is now drawing near, tho patrol-leaders instructed their patrols in the tying of square lashings essential in the construction of bridges. “Hawkeyo” mentioned the handball contest to be held. The two teams participating in this contest had a small practise to familiarise themselves with tho new rules which have now been brought into force. Before flag-down, a snappy game of dodgeball was played. After the troop had been dismissed the Court of Honour again met and discussions on various topics followed.

sth (Te Awe Awe) Troop.—The meeting opened with the usual ceremonies and was followed by patrol corners, during which the leaders instructed their patrols in second-class ambulance work. This was continued for a lengthy period as various second-class tests were undertaken 'by several members of tho troop. A game of “Big Ring” was played and was followed by a gamo invented by one of the troopleaders.

St. Patrick’s Troop.—The meeting opened with prayers and. inspection, which was won by the Tuis. Patrol instruction followed. At tho conclusion of this the troop was informed of all its good deeds (for which points were awarded) over the last three months. The Tui Patrol again have been the boys of good deeds, as their total was 28 points ahead of tho other patrols, and for which we congratulate them. May they return to the field of battle and register another victory for their patrol. Next in merit came Moreporks, Stags, Leopards, and Seagulls. A new recruit, who has been placed in the Stag Patrol for tho present, has joined the ranks. A tenderfoot general knowledge game was held, and it' was tho Seagulls who showed the rest of tho troop just how tho game should be played. We must still be tenderfoots, according to our demonstration in this game. Three boys have almost completed their explorers’ badge. All Saints’ Cub Pack—We opened our meeting with inspection, after which service stars were presented to Keith Smale, John Langsdalo and Don Penney, also a first star to Keith Shirley. Keith Smale has now been selected as the new second for Brown six. After some first star work we concluded with prayers.

2nd (Terrace End) Troop.—Our last meeting began with a game of dodgeball to warm us up, after which came inspection, which was won by the Weka Patrol. Wo then went to our patrol corners for half an hour to study badge work. We were visited by Mr and Airs Whiting and are indebted to them. A second gamo of dodgeball was won by Robert Acheson. We closed the meeting by repeating a prayer and the Scout laws.
