Mrs R. I>. McKelvio, of Palmerston North, is visiting Rotorua. Mrs Major Dick, Mrs W. Jacques, and Mrs W. F. Field were Palmerston North visitors to Wellington to-day. Mrs W. H. De Luen, of Palmerston North, is visiting her sister, Mrs S. Morron, of Mount Eden, Auckland. The friends of Mrs W. Brockie, of Ashhurst, who has been seriously ill in hospital for the past week, will be pleased to hear that her condition is improving, and will wish her a speedy recovery. Great interest was attached to the birth of the 5000th baby at the Alexandria Hospital, Wellington, on July 20. She will rejoice in the charming name of Shirley Joyce. Her mother wa6 presented by the committee with a dainty silver 6poon, which doubtless will be appreciated in the future, as it is suitably inscribed. A letter of good wishes which accompanied the gift stated that some of the early babies must now be over 60 years of age. Mrs E. W. Drake, retiring secretary of the Palmerston North branch of the League of Mothers, was warmly thanked for her services at the annual meeting yesterday. In moving that the appreciation of members ,be placed on record, the president (Mrs A. C. McPherson) said that Mrs Drake had been a most efficient worker during her two and a-half years of office. Members .endorsed these remarks with applause.
