HARRIER RACE.
PALMERSTON NORTH BEAT ..IIUTT VALLEY. Ten members of the Hull Valley Y.M.C.A. Harrier Clu > journeyed to Palmerston North on Saturday to participate in a teams’ race against the local club. Palmerston North won (6 men counting) by 21 points to 97. The race started from the Y.M.C.A. in Grey Street, and was run over a two-lap course of 6i miles. The following arc the limes and placings of the 'first 12 to finish (there were 27 staiters)-K. Galloway (P.N.) 36min. 55sec., 1‘; D. McCardle (P.N.). -37 nun. lOsec.. 2; L. Hawthorne (P.N.), 39 min. 3sec., 3; J. Spall (P.N.), 39inin. 42 sec., 4; N. Hearsey (P.N.), 40niin. 2sco.', 5; G. Scator (P.N.) 40min. 29scc., 6: A. Cozens (P.N.), 42inin. 27sec., 7; J, Scott (P.N.), 42min. 28sec., 8; K. Woodd (P.N.), 42min. 48sec., 9; K. Evciard (Hutt Valley), 43min. 7sec., 10; A. Carlisle (P.N.), 43min. Bsec., 11; N. llrierley (P.N.) 43min. 27sec., 12. K. Galloway and D. McCardle ran excellently and were a class above the other runners. N. Hearsey showed improved form, while L. Hawthorne, J. Spall and G. Sealor also ran well. A. Cozens beat J. Scott by inches in a fast finish. B. Corlett, having his first run, lasted tb- distance well. ' A Carlisle, N. Briefly and J. Roberts should finish in better positions when: they have had a few more solid runs. Hutt Valley had a team of young runners mostly having their first season in the sport. The road running proved a bit hard for them.
