An infringement in front of their goal cost the visitors dearly when Beales netted from a penalty corner hit, ' and Petch scored another goal for the home side' from a centre. hit by Beales. Play 6ee-sawed for a period, until Botting carried the ball down the line to the circle, where his centre hit wa6 not accepted and the chance was lost. Wellington went to the attack temporarily, only, for Harris to clear with a long hit. However, the visitors stayed on the attack until Hart cleared with a long kick. Wellington tried to further augment their score from a penalty corner hit, but the attempt failed. When the final whistle sounded the score was Manawatu 3, Wellington 1.
