NAZIS NEARER PARIS.
(From Daventry.) In spite of the desperate efforts of the defenders, the German enveloping forces are still converging on l aris from the north, south, and east However, the Military Governor claimed that the city would not be isolated, but would remain a bastion in the framework of the main defence line. The town at which the Germans are nearest is on the River Oise lees than 20 miles north from the heart or Paris. Fresh violent attacks on the north and east flanks are equally menacing. Some Nazi units ; have crossed the Marne at Chateau Thierry, 50 miles from Paris, which in the Great War was* 1 recaptured bv French and American troops from the Germans on July 21, 1918.
