RANGIOTU.
(From Our Own Correspondent.) RANGIOTU, May 28. At the monthly meeting of the Women’s Institute Mrs E. L. Russell presided and Mrs E. G. Beard read the correspondence. Mrs Graham gave a most interesting report on the federation meeting held at Foxton. A most inspiring address was given by Dr Adah l’latts Mills on the war effort, showing how each member of the community could aßßist ir. this great cause. A course of home nursing was of the greatest importance to everyone of us in the present crisis, she said. The training of land girlß to take the place of the farmers going overseas was also dealt with. The necessity for economy in the household as regards foodstuffs and materials for the use of bandages must be the responsibility of every housewife Dr Platts Mills stressed the importance of vitamin B in the diet and the great pari that good health would play m the pre sent struggle. AVe mußt, one and all, be prepared for any eventuality that might occur and face the' situation as loyal sub jects of the British Empire. Presentations were made to babies Ware and Dixon Mrs Beard was instructed to write to Mrs G. Millard expressing sympathy in the loss of her mother. The following stewards were elected for the year: No. 1 Mrs Jl Andretv; No. 2, Miss G. Jepson. Mrs S. Pearce is to be in charge of the bring and buy stall to be held at every meeting. Competition results Avere:— Pickles: Mr J. Andrew I, Mrs E. L. Russell 2- cloth skirt. Miss' H. Jepson 1. Miss G. Jepson 2; bloom, Mrs Russell. The hostesses were Misses A. Couchman and H. Jepson. .
