RUGBY FOOTBALL.
SATURDAY’S ATTRACTIONS. MATCHES STARTING EARLIER. All matches under the control of the Manawatu Rugby Union will commence a quarter of an'.hour earlier on Saturday than has been.the case to date, the union having decided to adopt the .winter schedule of starting times. On this occasion also the first of the three senior matches to. be played on the Showgrounds will-be held at the rear of the main grandstand.
University will meet United on No. 2 ground at 1.15 p.m. and the curtain-raiser for the main match will be provided .by the-High School and Kia .Toa third grade teams. The featured, match will be between Air Force and, St. Patrick’s at 2.45 p.m. and at the rear of the main stand Feilding and. Kia Toa are to meet at the same time. On the Feilding ground,- Old Boys and Feilding Old Boys are to play at 2.451 and, judging by the performances of these teams in Palmerston North last Saturday,"; the match should be well worth =eejng.’>; ' As all profits ;frqw> Saturday’s matches are to be devoted -to patriotic ’.purposes,’ allocations to be made from this sum to the various appeals) all free passes and privilege have been suspended, this entailing , that players also will pay the admission fee. In addition, the “OneAYlieel Y\ onders.” a team of seven trick cyclists who ride, their' one-wheel machines) in a. series of exceedingly clever acts, will bo seen in action during half-time in the main match. No fee is charged by the troup for the display.
