NAZIS FALL BACK
VICINITY OF TRONDHEIM. "MOPPING UP" AT NARVIK. (United Press Association —By Electric Telegraph—Copyright. ) LONDON, April 22. The Allies' positions in Norway are obscure, but optimism prevails that the initial operations are proceeding according to plan. The i Germans arc reported to be falling | back both north and south of Trondhcim and the French forces are "mopping up" north of Nar- | vik. The British and Norwegian troops appear to ho extending control of the strategic lateral roads and railways eastward and south-eastward from Andalsnes and Vacrdalsorcn. ]t is reported that British from Romsdals Fiord have occupied the railway to Dovre, including Dombaas. The Norwegians arc searching for German stragglers in this region arrayed in white for disguise. They have converted German parachutes to overalls. The positions east and north-east from Oslo are confused, with conflicting claims on each side to Hamar and Elvcrmn and the reports of the fighting south of these towns.
