AGAIN RAIDED

ENEMY AIR BASES. ATTACKS NEAR OSLO. LARGE FIRE STARTED. (United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.) Received April 24, 9.20 a.m. LONDON, April 23. It is officially announced that the Royal Air Force again raided enemy air bases in Denmark and Norway last night. A large fire was started in an aerodrome near Oslo. One British ’plane has not returned.

An Air Ministry communique states: “The R.A.E. bombed Kjeller and Fornebu aerodromes near Oslo. Incendiary bombs u;ore seen to start a large fire at Fornebu. Aalborg (Denmark) was also further attacked. German claims to have shot down four British aircraft are false. One British aircraft only failed to return.”

FIERCE OPPOSITION

Last night’s attacks on Fornebu and Kjeller aerodromes were the first undertaken by the R.A.F. on the German air bases' near Oslo, states tho British Official Wireless. While these raids were in progress another force of bomber aircraft was carrying out the third successive attack on Aalborg. High explosive and incendiary bombs were dropped on both the former air bases and a large fire was left blazing opposite the hangar buildings at Fornebu, tho field of which was covered with snow.

The Aalborg raiders met with the most severe ground opposition yet encountered. The gun batteries had obviously been reinforced since the previous night's raid. OnG British aircraft was hit by a small calibre shell, bijt was able to complete its attack and return safely. Despite the intense opposition all the attacks were prc-sed home and a large number of heavy bombs were seen to burst on the aerodrome surface arid runways.
