WEDDING.
SHANNON—ANDERSON. St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, Palmerston North, was recently the scene, of the wedding of Valmir Winifred, daughter of Mr and Mrs C. A. Anderson, of Palmerston North, to Alan Thorburn, younger son of Mr and Mrs W. H. Shannon, of Hokitika. Rev. J. Hubbard officiated. The bride, who was-escorted by her father, wore a gown of rich gold satin made on slim-fitting lines. The crossover bodice was gathered to the skirt with a high waistline effect in front and this dipped at the back, being finished with loops and buttons, the full skirt ending in a short train. An embroidered veil of pale gold tulle was held in place by small gold flowers, and she carried a bouquqt of deep cream roses and maidenhair fern. The bride was attended by her sister, Miss Shirley Anderson, who wore a frock of deep lavender taffeta made on similar linos to the bride’s but with a heart-shaped neckline and short puffed sleeves. She wore a halo of velvet flowers in mauve and pink tonings, and her bouquet was of mauve and pinkasters, belladonna lilies and maidenhair fern. Mr Alfred Keller, of Akatarawa, was best man. A reception was held at the P.D.C., tearooms, about forty guests being receievd by Mrs Anderson, assisted by Mrs Shannon. Mrs Anderson wore a rust-coloured ensemble, with hat and accessories to tone, and carried a posy in autumn tints.' Mrs Shannon was attired in a dusky pink jumper suit with a black hat and accessories. Her shoulder spray was of cream rosebuds. Mr and Mrs Alan Shannon left later for a motor tour of the North Island, the bride travelling in a grey tailored costume with black accessories.
