STEADY EXPANSION. Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, April IS. Satisfaction with the expansion of New Zealand’s air force was expressed by Hon. F. Jones. (Minister for Defence), to-day, when he stated that the strength at present is 3604 airmen and 387 officers. Thirty-six pilotofficers arc en route to England and 2096 applicants await an interview by the Selection Committee. The numbers in tlie various towns are: Auckland 579, Wellington 680, Christchurch 233. Dunedin 122, Invercargill 52, Blenheim 14, Nelson 25, New Plymouth 79. Najiier 152, Palmerston North 80, Wanganui 80.
