SECRET AIRCRAFT.
ALLIES SEEK PURCHASE. WASHINGTON, March 22. The Allied purchasing mission has formally asked the Government to permit the immediate sale of secret experimental ’planes to the United Kingdom. It stated that Germany mas rapidly expanding production of exceptionally fast, powerful armoured ’planes. The .Allies, therefore, would he gambling 1.000.000.000 dollars if compelled to Hake aircraft which were obsolete Indore delivery. The Munitions Control Board’s annual report states that the United States sales of ’planes and munitions abroad in 1939 was tenfold that in 1936, totalling 204.b00 000 dollars. Purchasers included. Australia. 11 470 000 dollars; Canada. 6 001.000; China 5 662 000 ; France, 122 220.000 : Britain. 20 991.000; Mexico. 3.409 000; Netherlands. 5.738000; Netherlands Indies, 2 411.000; Sweden. 5 895 000; Turkey, 3,175 000: Russia, 1.178.000. The Russian purchases were all nonmilitary ’planes. 1
