FORMATION IN FRANCE. M. REYNAUD AS PREMIER. . ' REPRESENTATIVE TEAM. ' (United Press Association —By Electric Telegraph.— Copyright.) i'ARIS, March 22. Following the refusal by M. D ala died to form a new Cabinet, ■ the former Minister of Finance ; (M. Paul Reynaud) has formed a : National Union Cabinet with a ■ number of new members and with ■ M. Reynaud, Chautenips, Daladier, Lainoureux and Mandel and an Inter-Ministerial Economic Council similar to Britain’s comprising At. Lainoureux and all Ministers dealing with national economy. Now portfolios are Supplies and Infor- . mation. M. Reynaud, in a statement, said • that the Ministry was numerically simi- ’ lar to M. Clcnieneeau’s Cabinet in the Great War, hut the Inner Cabinet and Economic Council have important differences. He added that the former would meat three times a week and the latter once a week. Thcllier (independent) . CHOI CE COALMEN DEJ). ’There is general approval of the rapidity with which the change in the j French Government was brought about. The Allied and American Press agree that AL Reynaud is the man for the job. The New York Times remarks that i there is nothing half-hearted about - Paul Reynaud. It should encourage the < Allies and their friends everywhere to see such a man at the head ol the French Government.
Most of the French newspapers say that M. Tieynnud's premiership should mean that the war will be carried on with • vigour. Tlic New York Herald-Tribune draws the comparison that the Nazi regime had been worked up to such a frenzy before the war that there remained Jno room for any change other than retreat. On the contrary, on the Allied side, after the trial of the apI peasement policy, there was no room i for change other than that directed to- | ward a sterner resolve to hold their ground and sea things through.
