Because the war lias cut off the export market, there will he a large surplus of apples in New Zealand this year. This valuable food, containing , three, important vitamins, A, B and C. is available in large quantities, and t at a price which, it is stated, enables plentiful supplies always to be on band in the home. The State has guaranteed a pa Cable return to the fruit-grower, j and the Minister for Afnrkcting (Hon. I AV. Nash) has undertaken the disposal | of more than 3,000.000 cases. | This occasion presents an opportu- • nity. when, as never before, this cheap j health-giving fruit can be used to the full advantage. To popularise the use ! of a poles the Alarketing Board has i published a cookery-book containing a : large number of recipes of all kinds . for the serving and use of apples. Not ; only is it recommended that apples j should always ho on hand for eating i at or between meals, for consumption j at school or in the office, but the mak- I ing of apple pics and puddings, apple . charlottes and cold sweets and all forms of dishes is also advised and full particulars given.
