Mr and Mrs AV. Barnaby, of Herne Bay, Auckland, are the guests of Mrs F. Slater, of Featherston Street. Mrs F. Cox was welcomed back, after her recent illness, by members of the '.terrace End branch of the League of Mothers at their meeting yesterday. Misses Lola and Jean Smith have returned' home after an enjoyable month’s holiday spent in the Jar North, the guests of Air and Airs J. F. AVhitehead, Kaeo, North Auckland. The friends of Ah's M. Casey, of Taihape, will regret to learn that she is indisposed at her home. Airs Casey is well-known in the racing world as the owner of several racehorses. At a meeting of the social committee of the Bed Cross Society, last evening, Airs J. J,yne presided, final arrangements were made for the dance to be held early next month, it being hoped that the funds would he substantially assisted as the demands on the Bed Cross Society arc rapidly increasing. At yesterday’s meeting of the Terrace End branch of the League of Mothers, votes of sympathy were accorded Alesdamos J. L. Davies and J. Fabrin, each of whom had suffered a bereavement by the death of her mother. Airs id. Finch, who is going to live in Wellington, was Larewelled at yesterday's meeting of All Saints’ Alothers' Union and presented with a prayer book by Canon G. Y. Woodward, on behalf of the members. Air and Airs J. Elliott will spend tlie Easter holidays in New Plymouth, where Airs Elliott (Aliss Joan Scott) will judge the national dancing on Easter Monday. Aliss Jean Scott and Missies L McKenzie and Z. Bailey visited AVellington yesterday to attend the class for members of the Australasian Society of Operatic Dancing. Airs Catherine Kent, who died in Paekaknriki las; week in her ninetieth year, was born in AVellington in 1850. She was the daughter of Mr and Airs Sydney Smith, and one of a family of four sons and two daughters. In 1876 she married Air Bobert Kent, who predeceased her by about 36 years. The late Airs Kent, who had lived in Packakariki for 30 years, took a groat interest in organising juvenile entertainment in and of various district funds. She is survived by. two daughters. Airs N. H. G. AJeFarlane (AI ellington), Airs F. J. Needham fChristchurch), a son Air B. S. Kent (Christchurch), six grand-children and three great grandchildren. One of the early settlers of Buckley, Shannon, Flora Anne Robinson, wile of Air C. B. Robinson, passed away at her homo at Lower Hutt, on Friday last. Airs llobinson who was 70 years of age was very energetic and a keen gardener until a few months ago. Air and Airs Robinson came from Wellington to Shannon about 40 years ago and farmed at Buckley unt'l 1916, when they sold their propertv to Air J. Bowler, sour., and went to live in retirement at Lower Hutt. A\ lien in Shannon Airs Robinson was a keen worker for the Church of England. She leaves besides her husband, a daughter, Aliss Alona Robinson (Lower Hutt), a sister, Airs ■ Samuels (Auckland) and two brothers, Alessrs. IT. Richards, senr. (Levin) and AV. Richards (Alangore, Auckland). The most cordial felicitations were extended by the Wanganui Education Board, at its meeting, yesterday, to Dr. Elizabeth Gunn, who was lor 25 years schools medical officer in the board’s district. As announced yesterday, Dr. Gunn is to retire on Aiareh 31 from the post of Director of iSchool Hygiene. Dr. Gunn partook of afternoon tea with members and executive officers of the board yesterday, and following this the chairman (Mr E. E. Hemingway) said the board was proud to have Dr. Gunn present. She was the pioneer of the health camp movement, and it seemed only yesterday that he had been down at Turakina at the inception of the health camp that she founded. Since then the movement had spread throughout New Zealand, and he trusted that the people of the Dominion would not forget their debt to her and to the late Air B. P. Lethbridge, who had provided the site and had assisted in many ways. Alessrs B. N. T. Blake (senior inspector), G. N. Boulton (secretary). A. S. Coleman (deputychairman of the board) and E. 11. Hodge (architect) endorsed the remarks of the chairman. Beplying, Dr. Gunn stated that the years she had spout in the Wanganui district were the happiest. of her life and she thanked the board for the assistance that it had given her. She was proud to have been connected with the health camp movement.
