CRIPPLED CHILDREN

PLANS FOR EASTER CAMP. The executive committee of the Manawatu branch of the New Zealand Crippled Children Society met on Tuesday, Mr W. G. Black being in the chair. Mr E. E. Nansett was welcomed as a member of the committee, replacing Mr C. S. Panting, who is now in camp. The report of the welfare officer (Miss E. Aitken) was received. The girls’ Easter camp at the Women’s Institute holiday house at Foxton is to be held from Thursday to Tuesday. A party of active Guiders who will ho in camp nearby, under Miss N. Davis, of Rongotca, will join in the work and play of the camp, bringing the numbers to 35 in all. Jt is hoped to have in charge Indoors Miss E. Aitken, as nurse, Miss B. Spear, as Q.M., Miss J. Hankins, as cralt worker, Miss B. Askew, one of the society’s girls, as canteen and camp secretary. Mrs G. A. Eliott, District Commissioner, Miss G. Warburton, camp adviser, Miss Cobh, head of New Zealand Post Guides, Paraparaumu. hope to attend part of the time and it is hoped also that members of the society will try to visit the camp. Finance has beeji assured as a result of the bridge party arranged by Miss M. Poole in February, which realised £ls. The report included recommendations concerning a number of cases and progress of others. Competitions for a doll and cake had realised £23 7s and in this connection the thanks of the society were accorded the directors and staff of the C. M. Ross Company for assistance with one of the competitions. Miss Poole was asked to" be responsible, on the society’s behalf, for a table in the Y.W.C.A. table-setting competition.
