An Air Ministry communique states “The 11.A.E. to-night attacked and severely damaged the German air base of Hornum on (he Island of Sylt. A message from Copenhagen states, that the It.A.F. reached Sylt about 10 p.m. and it was evidently a big-scaie attack. The Official News Agency at Berlin said that the raid was carried out in three waves at 7.57 p.m., 8.58 p.m. and 9.16 p.m. One British plane was shot down. A house set on fire was the only damage. A later message said that the 1t.A.1 • attack was still continuing at midnight. (From Daventry.) The raid was still in progress at 2.45 a.m. G.M.T. (2.45 this afternoon New Zealand time). The whole skyline has been lit up by the explosions.
