BUOYANT REVENUE
RETURNS IN BRITAIN. ESTIMATE EXCEEDED. HUGE EXPENDITURE. (United Press Association —By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.) (British Official Wireless.) Received March 21, 10.20 a.nr. RUGBY, March 20. _ With still another fortnight's receipts to come in the national revenue has now passed the level at which the Chancellor of the Exchequer (Sir John Simon) aimed in the War Budget. Receipts amount to £1,000,875,000, against the estimate for the full year of £995,180,000. The result is mainly due to the expansion in the customs receipts of which £11,870,000 were above the estimate. The total ordinary expenditure to date exceeded the revenue by £205,668,149. In addition'£477,249,ooo has been spent under the Defence Loans Acts. BRITISH™ EXPORTS. CO-OP DI MATING ACTIVITIES. (British Official Wireless.) Deceived March 21, 10.20 a.m. RUGBY, March 20. Export groups to co-ordinate activities have already been set up in 19 industries including such varied export commodities as metal windows, electrical machinery, wool, hosiery, jewellery, paint and varnish, toys and fancy goods and pottery.
SPANISH LOAN. (British Official Wireless.) Received March 21, 10 20 a.m. PUGBY, March 20. Satisfaction is expressed in London at the successful conclusion of the Anglo Spanish loan agreement, which is felt to represent a return to normal trading conditions between the two countries and to demonstrate Ixith Spain’s growing economic stability and British willingness even in wartime to give all possible assistance to Spanish reconstruction.
