SELMA LAGERLOF. LONDON, March 16. 'Flic death is announced of the Swedish authoress, Selma Lagerlof. Selma Lagerlof, one of the most noted writers, of the present day, was horn in 1858. The success of her first book, notably “Gostn-Berling,!’ published in 1891, enabled her after 1895 to give up her career as a teacher and devote herself entirely to authorship. She received many honours, most, notable of them being the Nobel Prize in Literature awarded to her in 1909. MR G. H. DIXON. Per Press Association. AUCKLAND, March IS. The death has occurred of Mr George H. Dixon, the well-known Rugby administrator, aged 80. .Born in Huddersfield (Yorkshire), he came to New Zealand 'at the age of 19. He was the manager of the 1905 All Blacks to Britain, and was a journalist by profession. Two years ago lie eeieorated his golden wedding. His wife, who survives him. is prominently associated with women’s organisations. Paying a tribute to the memory of the late Mr Dixon, Mr S. S. Doan, chairman of the New' Zealand Rugbv Union, speaking at Wellington, said his wise counsel had been always available, arid on many occasions Mr Dean had ’ appreciated his association with him and his upholding of the traditions of the game.
