RIFLE SHOOTING.

DANNEVIRKE MEETING. On Saturday the annual Danncvirkc rifle championship meeting was held, when shooling was of a fairly high standard. The | championship was won by G. Clegg (Waikopiro Club), who \*s closely followed by R. A. Jones and J. 11. Thompson. The j president thanked Air R. A. Jones, the | Aslihurst Club’s secretary, for suggestions forwarded, which had been adopted for the meeting. The secretary of the Manawatu Rifle Association, through the | Dannevirke president,, asked for an expression of opinions from the shooters on the proposal to hold the Manawatu chamj pionships during June this year instead jof October, when shooting may have lost j interest owing to the reduction in aml munition supplies available to rifle clubs. >lt was unanimously agreed that the .Tunc dale would be most, suitable to the clubs represented at the meeting. A meeting of tile Manawatu association would he called and notice forwarded to all clubs when a decision was reached, stated the Manawatu secretary. The prize list of Saturday’s shoot, is: Dannevirke match, 300 yards: G. Clegg (Waikopifo) and J. 11. Thompson (Wairakei). 35 each, 12s 6d ; R. A. Jones (Ashhurst) took 2s 6d. Waikopiro match, 500 yards: A. 11. R. Gillespie, G. Jackson, J. L. Brewer, H. B. Scott (Dannevirke), A. S. Berry (Dannevirke), W. 11. Davies (Taka pau), all 35, 7s 6d each ; M. ITausmann (Aslihurst' ss. R. A. Jones 2s 6d. Tnkapou match. 600 yards: C. Barker (Waikopiro), 34. 15?: A. S. Berry, 34, 10s: R. A. Jones and W. Jenkins (Aslihurst) took 5s each; S. .T. Brookie (Aslihurst) 2s 6d. Dannevirke championship: O. Clegg (Waikopiro). 101, ±!1 ss. and cup and miniature : runner-up, R. A. .Tones (Aslihurst), 100, 17s 6d; J. 11.
